Saying my goodbyes

My girls start school again in 3 weeks. And while I am very excited to go shopping by myself again, I'm not quite ready.

Let me explain. My oldest daughter is 6 years old. She spent 2 years in preschool and 1 in kindergarten. The most she has ever spent her day away from me is the 3 hours of kindergarten. She has always been home by lunch. Always spent the majority of the day with ME! And starting in 3 weeks she will be in First grade. She will be spending SEVEN hours a day at school. SEVEN. That is much more than 3.

And even though I did not cry a single tear her first day of kindergarten, I may for her first day of first grade. I'm just not ready for my baby to grow up.

Yeah I am not sure if I will cry or not the first day of school, which for us is next week!
Lucas was disappointed to find out that he would not be eating lunch at school this year as he wants to use the lunchbox.

I know how you feel, though Parker was doing six hours of preschool before he started 7 hours of kindergarten. Caleb starts the 6 hour preschool in a few weeks and I'm not sure whether to shout for joy or curl up and cry. I guess we'll see how we all hold up.

I can't say I know how you feel. Corbin starts 3 hour preschool in a few weeks, and I am kind of freaking out over that, but its not seven hours. I'm not very trusting and don't like leaving my kids with non-family. I cried the first time he went to primary!

I can only offer some virtual hugs!

I really feel your pain. I am trying not to think about it because I get teary-eyed every time. And I didn't shed a tear for kindergarten either. Seven hours!

And I also hear you on this one!! I will have three kids in school this fall. We have all day kindergarten, so when my twins start kindergarten they will be gone all day. I will go from four kids at home, to one kid at home overnight. Seriously. What am I going to do with myself?! I'm excited and yet so horribly sad all at the same time.

How's that old song again, "They say growing up is hard to do..." Oh, I think I got it wrong. I guess it's "breaking up"...but you get my drift.

Let's share a box of Kleenex. when school starts in a few weeks, my oldest will be in 2nd grade, the twins start 1st grade, and that just leaves our baby (2 yr old). Crazy!

It does seem like forever compared to the kindergarten hours. Our school does an introductory reading program along with 1st grade so it eases the kids into the longer days a bit. I dont know much but it'll be interesting to see how it works.

It's so fun to hear your thoughts, we're right on the same page with so much!
