Just Breathe

In the last week or so my oldest daughter has:

-Cut her hair.  My 6 year old.   Took a chunk out of her bangs. HER BANGS!  (Oh, and did I mention picture day is next week?)

-Completely pulled out my rosemary plant to make some sort of mud pie. The one thing that didn't die when my husband mowed over the flower bed.

-Made every one of her siblings cry for one reason or another

-Thrown at least 2 temper tantrums which involved much screaming and door slamming

It seems no surprise the I find myself developing anger issues.

It seems like all girls do the hair cutting thing. Still sucks!

If it makes you feel any better (it probably won't - I'm so sorry things are so tough right now!) my older sister cut off her EYELASHES when she was about 6. She thought they were too long. They took FOREVER (months, if not years) to grow back. People look really weird without eyelashes, in case you didn't know. But seriously, I'm sorry!

Seriously, I feel like I just read my life right now. I am beside myself with my six-year old!

Well what goes around comes around. I cut my hair like crazy and the neighbor kids plus all the dolls' hair. I'm sure I drove my mother nuts and she's now laughing hysterically.

Oh no! Not that hair that made her "not like" everyone else! I guess they have a way of asserting their will, one way or another....deep breathe in....and relax!!!

I think my sister was the one who cut my bangs. Silly girls.

I wonder if Fall Break is a bittersweet thing. My 6y/o has been falling apart lately too (moody as can be). Perhaps its just so many weeks of school and tiredness are getting to them? I'm so sorry about the hair. Maybe you can find her a cute hat (http://www.zappos.com/roxy-kids-retreat-hat-little-kids-stone).

Isn't it weird how our girls can seem so grown up and mature and such great helpers one day, and then like two year old on a rampage the next. Just remember how great Eden is usually. She's got to give you a little bit of a hard time every now and then or you'll go soft. :)

Oh yes the cutting of hair whether sibling inflicted or self inflicted... we've had a lot of that around here in the past. Katherine let Kaylee do that to her bangs, and right before our family picture was to be taken, luckily I had found a head band that I could use, and just let her hair look like it was "pulled" back, and then you couldn't tell in the picture. But boy, everytime I look at that picture.. I still laugh, because I know what happened.

Right now, these may be invoking some anger ... but the fact that you are writing them down, will turn them into laughing issues. Hang in there Rachel !!

Okay, is this the child that just started school this year? Just wondering.
If so, you might wanna take her aside and talk to her how school is going...you might find some emotional reasons for why she's acting out at home.
Except for the haircutting thing...that's completely normal. And YEA! for picture day! That picture will become a treasure for years to come!! (and really fun blackmail in about 10 years...lol)
Hang in there Momma!

I tell ya, six is a hard age! My daughter had a tough year last year. I think they're kind of stuck between being a little little girl, and an older little girl, and they're not sure where they fit.

And I thought potty-training was frustrating....
