Random Friday

So I weaned my baby a little more quickly than originally planned. And I have been in pain for 3 days now. Any advice?  Because catching a glancing blow by a flailing baby has almost sent me to tears more than once. . .

********************************

Have you ever noticed that there are a few actors out there who are always the bad guy?  I don't know what it is,  but I just can't like them.

There are people like Alan Rickman (Snape) who are great at being the bad guy, but  also plays the good guy extremely well! (Colonel Brandon).  Him, I like. As for people who are always bad guys, I don't know most of their names.  They don't have such big parts. And them, I don't like.

********************************

Okay, I'm kind of in the dark. What is the big deal with the swine flu vaccine? Is it bad? Is it good?   Enlighten me.

*******************************

I am about to spend the weekend in Park City with all of my sisters-in-law.  I cannot wait.  Especially to wake up tomorrow morning. Whenever. I. WANT!  Two days of heaven, here  I come!

Ohhhh, I'm sorry :( I don't have much advice for you other than it should get better. I've read your post about "the last time", and I've been meaning to comment, but you know me . . . I'd forget my head if it weren't attached. Kind of sad when the baby, baby is growing up. I know this all too well. Have fun on your vacay! Woohoo!

I used ice packs in my bra. Just don't answer the door with them in! I think I scarred a neighbor kid for life.

LOVE Alan Rickman!

Wish I could tell you more about the swine flu but every time I try at our pediatricians they are all out of vaccines.

See you in Park City. Outlets here we come!

Sounds like you will get some relief from the flailing baby this weekend. After the third day (the worst for me) things should start to get better!
I do not plan to get my kids (or me) the swine flu vac. We are in good health, and worry that the risks outweigh any possible benefits. If any of us do get it, we should weather it OK.

okay, I don't know how good my advice is, but here goes. When I weaned Dex, I was in TERRIBLE pain for like a week, I didn't want to feed him or pump because I was afraid it would make the milk come back. Finally after about 7 or 8 days I finally gave in and pumped while I was in the shower, just for a minute or two, on each side. The pain never came back, and neither did more milk. Worked for me.

I wrapped mine up with ace bandages. Then in the hot shower I got alot of relief. But I think it took about a week.

I'm with Rochelle. Pump just enough to ease the pain, it won't be enough to keep your milk going. Also stick cold cabbage leaves in your bra. Works!

btw- I just gave my two older kids the H1N1 vac so I sure hope it's ok. I'm getting it tomorrow. I was a little hesitant, I'm even hesitant with the regular flu shot. I usually don't get it, but I have a newborn so I just didn't want to take chances. Yet oddly I feel like I just took a chance!

There aren't enough studies done yet to say whether it's really good or bad. That's why everyone is hesitant.

I am so jealous about your getaway. I need one real bad!

Heat...like from a shower. And like a couple other ladies said pump just a bit. Hope it helps.

Swine flu...I heard there was a bad batch and now there is a good one. We are getting them in NOv. So we have time to chicken out. :p

Alan Rickman....YUMMM!

Girls weekend? Cool have a blast and eat something fattening for me please.

Have a great weekend!

(And Snape isn't a bad guy!)

Glad you get to get away for the weekend! Should be fun.
And there are definitely some people who just get stuck in a roll and that is all they will ever be able to do. And yes, I do think of them as bad :)
I say, yes for the regular flu shot, but I have too many controversial things about the swine flu shot.

It's good...get it and especially make sure your kiddo's get it. My hubby's a doctor so I have the real scoop! Not to meantion 3 of our children have had swine and it is AWEFUL!

I'm with Rochelle -- after about a week, I couldn't stand it and relieved some pressure in the shower. Honestly, I had to do that for a few weeks before I stopped refilling, but the pain stopped.

Some other actors who are always the bad guys -- the dad from October Sky. He was also in The Bourne Identity. And that one movie with Ryan Phillippe as a CIA agent who was a double agent.

And the guy who played Boromir in Lord of the Rings. He was in National Treasure as the bad guy, too.

Have fun in Park City this weekend!

Sorry about the weaning, when I weaned my last it took FOREVER for them to finally feel better, not extreme pain but it was still not fun! Good luck!

I totally get what you're saying about the bad guys, they're creepy! We watched this movie with Samuel L. Jackson, where he played his bad guy role WAAAY too well, now he'll always be a bad guy to me! (p.s. Snape is too bad!!)

I don't know about the swine flu vaccine, just that I won't be getting it. I get the regular flu shot, I get the flu. I don't get it, I don't get the flu. Works for me!

SO JEALOUS of your weekend away, have a blast!!

Survived 6 babies weaning-and the best advice that worked: cold green cabbage leaves inside bra against skin. Someone else mentioned it above, and it sounds weird, I know. It is okay to throw them away, you used them medicinally so don't try and make coleslaw. 8<)

I did NOT do any showers for a couple of days, maybe 4...(the hot water seemed to make more and more milk).

Tylenol. Husband holding baby helps. He would feed the baby food and bottles, if still needed, or sippy cup. I would leave the house if I felt tempted to nurse. Don't go backwards.

I still wake up from dreams thinking I hear a baby crying and remembering the feeling of the let down sensation--it is such an intense part of mothering your body doesn't forget. But it is okay to be done.

Keep giving yourself permission and no guilt trips. Don't stop drinking water and taking care of yourself! Good luck!

I don't know what to think about the swine flu. I don't what to do or how to know if I had it.

I remember that full to bursting sensation. It's miserable! I think it went away within a week or so.

I'm with Jennilynn on this one cold green cabbage leaves. Sounds weird I know but it works.

I hope you had a great time in Park City.
