I was thinking about it today and I realized that I have really learned a lot in the last six years. For example:
- I have learned to keep the space heater unplugged when not in use and all the bathroom doors closed.
- I have learned to keep little people snacks--and only little people snacks--on the bottom shelf in the pantry.
- I now know the best way to clean up poop, pee and throw up.
- I am an expert at getting everything to fit in the dishwasher.
- I know how to potty train little girls. (Gonna have to learn a bit more before we start with the boys!)
- I am an expert at installing carseats and setting up playpens.
- I have learned that anything that can be used as a step stool, will be used as a step stool.
- I have learned that Lay-z-boys are dangerous.
- I have learned how to keep stitches on a 6 month-old's hand clean and dry. (lots of gauze and a sock.)
- I have learned that strollers are a blessing and a curse.
- I know how to cross the street holding 3 hands and a carseat.
- I have learned (the hard way) how to throw a successful birthday party.
- I have learned to set alarms on my phone for EVERYTHING because I will forget.
- I have learned to keep markers up high and permanent ones locked up.
- I have learned that books don't really need to be kept in any order, whatsoever.
- I know how to stay calm in a crisis and how to handle blood.
- I know how to comfort my crying baby when no one else can, and I know just how to hold each of my children so that their little bodies melt into mine.
- I know how to get kisses from all of my children and I know that their hugs and their snuggles are possibly the sweetest candy on earth.
- I have learned how to love more deeply and fully than I ever thought possible.

So nice! I agree having children surely is a fast teacher! :)
hey, your word verification says:
foold "Fooled you! HA HA!" I'm so weird. I'm sorry.
Absolutely happy anniversary to you-------just think of all that you will know after you have had 8 kids (ha ha, whooo hee)
It's the toughest degree you'll ever earn...and you'll never be finished, but it's all worth it!
p.s. Wait until you have a pre-teen. Potty training is just the beginning.
I will need your consult on potty training girls hopefully in the next couple of months. So far Peyton isn't having any of it. I want to beat my goal of age 3. That's when Brady was potty trained by. Kyle was 4. I certainly hope it doesn't take that long!!!
Love your list and happy anniversary to you. What a special anniversary!!
Much love from NJ,
Sue

I honestly have never thought of my children's birthdays as anniversaries of my motherhood! Thanks for that perspective.
I took good notes and have some things I need to learn!
Fabulous list. I too like the idea of birthdays being anniversaries. Pure awesomeness.
(And best tip I can give about potty training boys - put a goldfish cracker in the toilet and have him drown it. It's amazing how much their aim improves when given the chance to 'kill' something.)
The books--oh, the books! So much time I have spent putting them in order and you're right--what a waste of time!
Yep Happy Anniversary. It is so great to be a mom, and the list will continue to get longer and longer. Great blog, I'll be back.
